Peppermint Twist is Here

Laura RS from Mexico sent me a darling LHN Christmas ornament stitched on 28 ct linen using DMC threads and the Peppermint Twist pattern. It looks perfect next to my snowman. I will leave it up for a while and enjoy looking at it as I go out the front door of our home.

Been Busy

I have had nothing but problems with posting photos on my blog so I will just write around them. It is late and I need to be in bed.
This is the front of my Stitcher's Choice for HoE. It is a pattern from Stone & Threads. I have lost the picture of the back. It is done with snowmen theme and it has the recipe for Snow Ice Cream. I used the threads that were suggested.

This is the front of a darling Quaker biscornu that Nancy sent me for her Stitcher's Choice for HoE. She chose beautiful reds and greens and I love it.This is my LK exchange piece that was sent to Shirlee. She has received it. I finished it with beads and made a bead hanger. It was from a January Flip It. I used the threads suggested.

Life is very busy right now. I still have 3 Christmas programs to do in the next 2 days. The kids are ready and they love to perform and use the Orff instruments. We will have a good time. Autumn Exchanges

I sent my Autumn Exchange today and it should arrive to its new home on Monday. We hope:)

I received my Autumn Exchange piece yesterday from Lucie of the UK. I love it. It is hanging on my little tree with all of my autumnal decorations. I still have my Halloween up because 2 of our granddaughters will be visiting and I want them to see the decorations. I need to work on doing more Thanksgiving themed stitching. I could add that to my goals for the next year. :) I am out of school today because we had Parent/Teacher Conferences yesterday and today. I did not get home until 9 last night and we had a slice of pizza and some Greek salad. My dh went to bed and I stayed up and stitched because I did not need to get up at my usual 4:00. The pups let me sleep until 7:15. That was marvelous. I stitched a Bent Creek Snapper for my partner. I used the floss that was suggested and fabric in my stash. I made it into a little pillow filled with crushed walnuts and finished it with beads in the stitching. I'm giving a piano lesson tonight so I need to get busy and clean the house. Lots of Goodies to Share

I finished a little pillow for my friend Becky. I told her she could give it away but not to sell it in a garage sale. It was from a Secret Needle kit but I put two patterns together and did my own design. I had fun with it and then finished it into a long pillow filled with crushed walnut shells.

I received my HoE ornament in the mail yesterday from Amy. It is a freebie from Lilybet called "Joy". I love the finish and it will be easy to store when it isn't on my little tree. I love the tree in the pattern.

Tonight my friend Becky gave me a little Halloween ornie from her cat Tobias, that I took care of while she was on her journey to Chicago. I love the pattern and the cats eyes seem to glow. She did a really nice job. I will share pics of the projects.

School is going well. We have started on the Christmas musical and the kids are doing great. We had friends from Montana visit us this weekend and we had a great time. Of course there is the frenzy of super cleaning the house and trying to cook everything they like because we only get to see them once a year.

Christmas Ornament

I finally finished my little Christmas ornament for HoE. We had a teacher's meeting on Friday and I worked on it furiously during the meeting. It really helps me concentrate on what is being taught. Then we had a fall break today so I was able to finish my exchange and get it in the mail.

I used a pattern from the 2004 Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament issue. It is a HeartStrings/The Artist's Collection. I stitched it on fabric from my stash and used the threads that were suggested. I made it into a little pillow ornament with gold beads all around and then I made a little hanger with beads that I had. The fabric on the back is from our little quilt shop located a few miles from Okmulgee.

The little bowls that are in my photos are made by my husband. I use them to hold the beads for my projects. They are perfect.

Our weather has been grand and I have flowers to plant so I had better get busy. Hope you days are filled with goodness and joy. Peace and blessings to all.

Little Box from Laura

I received my LK Exchange today from Laura. It is so cute and the colors in the box and the colors that Laura used match perfectly. She used the LK pattern, "Life is a Beach". I have not had a box for an exchange so this was exciting. She dyed the linen with tea and used DMC threads. Laura put a little pillow lining in the bottom of the box. I think it will go well with by bathroom colors and I will use it for some of my jewelry. Thank you so much Laura. Here are some pictures.

My LK Exchange is Finished

My LK Exchange is finished and will be in the mail tomorrow morning. This was truly a "senior moment". I got my dates mixed up on 2 exchanges and really had to hustle to finish my LK close to mailing date.

I chose to do part of the "Autumn Sampler" as a stuffed little pillow. I used fabric in my stash and then finished it with fabric from a little quilting shop called "Grannie Annie's" located in Beggs, OK. She carries delightful fabrics. I used the Sampler Threads that were suggested.

It should not take long at all for the pillow to reach its destination.

School is still very busy and I am always grading papers or doing lesson plans. Those are two things I can always count on.

I have a date with my sweetie this evening so I had better get ready.

Kathy Sent a Lovely Pyn Keepe

Kathy and Rory too sent me a beautiful pyn keepe. It is one of the Little House Monthly Patterns and she changed November to Autumn. The colors stand out and it really catches your eye. I like the plaid that she chose to finish the back. It will be exhibited with pride and pleasure. Thank you Kathy.

I am working on my LK Exchange that is to be mailed September 23rd. Gary participated in a bazaar with his turned wood designs. I worked the whole time on my exchange and when I got home I had to rip the entire section that I had done during the day. GRRRRR!!!!!!! I have now put it in a second time and it is correct and I feel good about it. I want to finish it this week and get it in the mail by next Monday.

Am working on curtains for my bathroom. I made a panel last week and thought it was enough but decided I needed another panel. Alas, not enough fabric to be as long as the first panel. I Did It On My Own

Yes, old dogs can learn new tricks. I was going to call my friend, Becky K. this next weekend to help me finish my Fall Pyn Keep. Duh, the 2nd of September is Friday, tooooo late. So I got busy last night and this afternoon and did it my self. I took the 2 tutorials that Anita's Little Stitches has on her blog and combined them and added my own 2 cents and finished it. I used the trim I had ordered from Anita and I love it. It lays so smoothly and evenly. There are some mistakes but I don't think they are too noticeable and I truly loved making it. Now I want to make some more so I can really do it without all of the stress. : ) I used :The Pumpkin Farm" from Bent Creek Snapperville. I used fabric that was in my stash and I used the threads that were suggested. Fun project!

School is going well and I am busy. I have great classes this year and the students are really working hard. This will be a wild week because we have Open House for 3 nights but I only have to attend 2 of them. It just makes for a late evening but oh well.

Gaby Sent Biscornus from Germany

I received two beautiful biscornus in the mail today from Gaby of Germany. She couldn't decide which one to send so she sent them both. They are just too sweet. They are designed by Alulie. My dh had just put up a little shelf in my bathroom and I had put a sunflower picture on it that I had purchased from my friend in Idabel. Gaby's little note card was a sunflower so I just had to display my biscornus near my picture.

I received my HoE Christmas LK ornie today in the mail It is just darling and I hope it will bring us some cooler weather. Today is supposed to be 115. It is LK " Winter Crazy Brrrr". Elisa stitched it on 28 ct. Blue Check Linen and put blue check gingham on the back. She used the suggested DMC colors and finished it with beads that match the little scarf. It is precious. It will fit perfectly on my little tree during our Christmas season.

Exchanges Are On Their Way

My bouquet is called "Posy Pot" designed by Cecilia Turner for Heart in Hand. It is stitched on 26 ct. Eggshell Lugana. I changed a couple of the threads because I didn't have the correct color.

This is for my Seasonal Exhange.

I chose "Joy" for my LK Perpetual Christmas ornie. It was a 1999 freebie. I changed some of the colors because dark fabric was suggested and I used 28 ct. opalescent. I finished it with gold beads and a little hanger made out of beads.

Our weather has been beastly hot.

Today we reached 109 and tomorrow is supposed to be 111. I walked 2 miles this morning at 7:30 and it was already 81. Tomorrow I am walking at 6:30 without the sun up and that should help. Can't drink too much water these days.

I'm working on my classroom and it is taking shape. I found out today that I am getting a Promethean board for my classroom. Wahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I will have to go back and move some furniture around so my desk will be close to the board. Thank heavens my dh is always willing to help.

We Are Home and I Had A Surprise

I received my LK exchange from Lisa S. while I was away on our vacation. What a pleasant surprise awaited me. It is a darling LK Liberty Sampler. Lisa used 28 ct. antique white even weave using the over dyed threads that were suggested. It is so cute and it fits in with all of my patriotic stitching that is in our hall way.

Coming home our car said it was 112 outside. We really thought about turning back and heading for cool Colorado. They are dry like us. We went to The Royal Gorge and we took the Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak. We also went shopping. We swam every night and we ate at our favorite Mexican Restaurant, La Casita. The girls were counting how many times we ate there. We also visited our favorite frozen custard eatery, Culver's.

I completed my LK Exchange yesterday which is a record for me to be finished 2 days ahead of schedule. I had received a beautiful birthday gift from my stitching friend Becky and I decided to complete my LK in the same manner. I used fabric that I had in my stash and I used the threads that were suggested. I chose the Summer ABC's pattern.

I have packed my cross stitch for our little trip we are taking this week. Got to have your priorities. Now my suitcase is not packed yet but it will be soon.

Our weather is so beastly hot and dry. There may be a chance of showers today but pretty unlikely. Hope everyone has a safe and great 4th of July. God Bless America, Land That I Love!!

Returned from London and Paris

I put my HoE Christmas Ornament in the mail. The postal person said it should take 7-10 days. It has a ways to go and I hope it arrives safe and sound, ready for its new home.

This is Tim, our tour guide for the trip and myself. He made walking 8 to 10 miles seem like an adventure. Half of that walking was up and down stairs. The backs of my legs were sore and then I adjusted. Not bad for an old lady. You see the tower of London Bridge in the background. This was on our boat trip down the Thames River. Here are the guards going back to their headquarters from the Changing of the Guard.

While I had the time I wanted to share these pictures with my blogging friends. It had been several years since I made a little pillow with a ruffle. I was a little rusty.

This pattern is called "Home Tweet Home" and it is designed by Cindy of Stitchworks for her Fun and Fiber monthly class. I received it in June 1998, just a few years in my stash but I thought it was perfect for spring. It is stitched on 19 ct. light blue cork with #5 Pearl cotton, and special threads. It is an oldy but a goldy. Glad I finally finished it. I have a few more not completed yet. Maybe that will be my summer goal. They make perfect little pillows.

My LK Arrived and Other Stuff

My LK arrived in the mail yesterday from Sharlene. I hung it on my Easter tree in our hall way and it looks like it was made for it. I love those flowers and I liked the glitzy rick rack that Sharlene chose to put around it.

I got my Seasonal Exchange in the mail and it has a ways to go but hopefully it will arrive soon.

These next two weeks are killers. We have special masses on the next two Fridays and I am in charge of the music and playing for it because our 8th grader that has been helping will be gone.:-( So it is lead this and sit down and play this, etc. Our spring musical is on Monday, the 16th and we have rehearsals all week. Then we have 8th grade graduation and I play for that, which it is always nerve racking for me. Tonight is a bingo fund raiser at the school so I will be there selling necklaces to the attendees. It is always fun just noisy. The school is going to a baseball game and then we have fun day which is only fun for the children if you get my drift. Then I leave on the 30th for England with 40 children and parents. We will be gone 9 days. I'll take a before and an after picture to post. We should have lots of fun and the kids are really getting excited.

I'm including some pics of the babies. They are really so cute and such messes. For some reason they all decided to get in one crate which is very unusual. I had a basket sitting on the floor and old Mr. Buddy crawled in it and took a nap. His favorite thing to do is get on a rug and scratch it all around and get it just right and then lay on the floor.

Our resident rock hound, Miss Molly, threw up next to our bed 6 rocks that were in her belly. She chose Gary's side. :) We have to walk behind her in our fenced in back yard and watch and yell and she will drop them before she swallows them. Some of the rocks were at least 1 1/2 " in diameter. Mr. Marty just howls. He was our alarm clock this morning. Are our pups in charge? You betcha!

LK Spring

I did a Flora McSample by LK for my spring round. It was just too cute and I couldn't leave any of it out. I finished it in time and then my sewing machine broke and I had to get a new one because it was going to cost approximately $1000 to replace two computer boards and it was just too old. So I finally got the new machine and voila` I finished it last night and mailed it today. I decided on a little long pillow that is filled with crushed walnut shells. It is stitched on 28 ct. mint green cashel linen. I used the threads that were suggested with the pattern. It was really fun to do and I think I will make one for my daughter-in-law that also does counted cross stitch. Here are a couple of pictures that really don't do it justice.

My Quaker Exchange

I tried something new this time. I made my first biscornu. It is call My Quaker Garden. It is a Carolina House Design. I used antique buttons on itI thoroughly enjoyed working on it and I liked it because it has to be perfectly stitched. There can be no bobbles. I filled it with fiberfill but I am going to make one and fill it with crushed walnut shells. I just want to try something new.

Life is wild at school. We are in the midst of preparing for our spring musical. We are doing another Psalty, "Heart to Change The World". It is the best one ever and the cast is just remarkable. They are doing a fantastic job and the music is very difficult. I am so proud of them.

Saturday I took 7 children to Circle The State With Song. They learn their part and then they meet with several school which includes about 150 children. They rehearse all day with a guest conductor and then present a concert that afternoon for their parents and friends. They did a fabulous job. They make my heart sing.

My Exchange Made It and I'm Back from Rome

Suzanne emailed me and said she had received my HoE Reindeer. I was concerned that she might be in the flooded area but she is safe. My pictures aren't the best. I used a pattern from Daffycat. Instead of making french knots I used beads. I stitched my piece on opalescent fabric which gives it a little sparkle. I want to make some for me and my family.

I had a great time in Rome and here are two pictures from many.

This is a picture of the Colosseum and the hallway leading to the Sistine Chapel.It was a trip of a lifetime. Now we will take 41 parents and middle schoolers to England this summer, with 2 days in Paris. It should be a great trip with lots of learning. I received this darling Reindeer Ornament in the mail today. What a pleasant surprise. He is a Pine Mountain Design and he has the cutest little red button for his nose. It is a cute finish.

Today three of my grandchildren went to school with me because their grandmother is very ill in the hospital and their Mom is staying with her and their Dad works on the weekends. We had a foot of snow and that tends to drive all of us bonkers. We did build a snowman and had lots of fun but they were ready to come in change into warm pj's that Granddad had just taken out of the dryer and have some "tickle tea". We played games, watched videos and Nana was busy making them blankets. They loved our school and wanted to go back tomorrow but they needed to go home and go to their school. Our children at All Saints were so good to them and made them feel welcome. But we are all tired tonight. :)

It Is On Its Way and Look at My Pretty Valentine

This is my seasonal exchange piece that was mailed yesterday.It should take it about a week to get there if it doesn't get caught in another snow storm which delayed my mailing it on time. I used a Sampler Girl pattern that I felt was appropriate for this kind of weather we have been having. I added a little heart shaped button to give it a Valentine flavor also. I used DMC 355 which I love the color. I don't know what fabric I used as it was in my stash. I added three different colors of beads to put a finish on the edge. I filled it with my crushed walnut shells which I really like to use. I hope it finds a happy home soon.

Our postal person brought me this darling Valentine from Diane of Indiana. I do not have a black finish and it looks perfect among my Valentine decorations. I love the colors she used and I will enjoy this for many years to come.

We have school tomorrow and that is good since we only had one day last week. We are due some more snow so we need to go while we can. We Okies are not used to this much at one time. :)

Now I need to finish my HoE reindeer. I will leave for Rome on the 17th of Feb., so I am getting nervous and excited. I am preparing to be a tour leader on our school trip this summer to England. Look What The Postal Person Brought!!!!

Michele had written to me and said she had sent my exchange to be finished by her friend, Karen of Finely Finished. The stitching and finish are just perfect. I did this for an exchange last year and now I have it for me. It is the November Stamp by LK. I do not have a flat fold so I was really excited to get this cute little turkey. Thank you so much for this special exchange.

We just got back from our trip to Spokane. The workshops were great and I learned so much to bring back to my students at All Saints. The trees were beautiful and there were wonderful walking trails right by our hotel. We put in a few miles. :) Now I am starting on projects for our family. Never a dull moment at our house. The 3 babies were glad to get home and be with their Mommy and Daddy. We missed them and we put in a few calls to check on them.

A New Goodie

Waiting for me today was this darling pin keep, and needle holder from Sheril. The colors are beautiful and I truly appreciate her time and effort. I am going to take it on my trip to Spokane. It is perfect for me to use. I need to go fix our dinner and get packed. DH swept and mopped today. He is really a keeper.

Mass was so good today with all of the children doing something extra. We celebrated All Saints Day because our school is All Saints. Bishop Slattery along with Father Dodd presided at Mass, with the 8th grade leading. We had a cello solo and the Honor Choir sang special music during Communion. I had no voice so I was thankful for all of our children.

Today When I Got Home

There was a darling Autumn Exchange waiting for me from Alison. I love it. It is a small pillow that is an adaptation of a JBW Autumn design stitched with Anchor Threads on even weave.

We had a wonderful time at our friend's little shop called Mimi's. It is delightful and I came home with some goodies for me and for my family. We visited, drank coffee, and talked non-stop. We laughed a lot and that is so good for all of us. Dear Becky drove and I appreciated it so much. I commute 2 hours each day to my work so I don't like to drive on the weekend.

I Finished My Last Exchange!!!!!!

Got up early this morning, even before the pups, and finished my final exchange. We have a new quilt shop in a nearby town and I purchased some fat quarters there and completed this little Bent Creek Zippee. It was fun to make and I love the little acorn button.

Got to run because I am teaching a piano lesson this morning . Phoebe usually comes on Sunday but tomorrow is Halloween and she will be busy.

Lizzie Kate is Headed for a New Home

Here is a picture of my Round 6 Lizzie Kate project. I had fun doing it. This was my second one to complete.

Mass went very well today. The 4th graders were awesome as usual. Now on Monday I have Mass for All Saints Day. Because our school is named All Saints Catholic School we celebrate Mass with our Bishop and our two priests. It is a big thing for the children and their music teacher. The Honor Choir is singing a special piece during Communion. After Communion one of the 8th graders is playing a cello solo.

Then on Tuesday evening DH and I head for Spokane, WA to attend my national music convention. It is a hard 4 days of workshops all day and events during the evening hours. We will return on Sunday pretty tired. The babies stay at the groomers and they love her and she loves them. They will be all clean and pretty when we return. Our friend, Mary Lee, will watch the homestead while we are away. So it is a busy week.

I need to finish one project this evening so adios.

Finished a Picture

I finished a Halloween picture by Becky Boo's. It was fun to do and I have several more to complete.

There is so much I want to do and by the time I get home at night I am almost too tired but I have to at least get started on one project tonight.

Went to WW and I have lost 11 lbs. Yippee!!!! That does make one feel so good. Tomorrow is Mass at our school and one of the 4th grade classses is leading. They will do a special song at the end. They are excited and so am I.

My friend Becky and I are going to Idabel this weekend to visit our friend Mary Ann. It has been a few months since we visited her. She has opened a new little gift shop and I can't wait to see what she has.

My Fall Exchange is Finished

I think I am getting worse at taking pictures. Maybe it is my camera or perhaps the operator. Here are 2 pictures of my Fall Exchange

I used "The Autumn Scissors Keeper" pattern by The Drawn Thread. I chose to use opalescent fabric with a little shine because I used some Rainbow Gallery Treasure Braid with my Belle Soie Paprika. Then for the stems I used some hand dyed thread from Margaret Lee's. I also used limited edition called "Army Tent" from Gentle Art. I filled my scissor keeper with crushed walnut shells. It was fun to make and I hope my partner will like it.

Got to go. Oklahoma State is being beaten by Nebraska right now. I need to put on my lucky shirt and necklace. No wonder they are behind. It is raining here in Okmulgee. My two friends went to Octoberfest. Hope they are staying dry.

It is really getting busy at my school. I am preparing for two Christmas Programs. Our school has been invited to sing at Woodland Hills Mall in Tulsa and we are taking 70 people to see the "Nutcracker" in December. Hard time of the year for a music teacher.

Left to Right - Marty, Buddy, and Miss Molly

Here is a picture of the three rocking cockers at our house. Buddy had his surgery for his cherry eye and you cannot tell anything was wrong. Our vet didn't know exactly how it would turn out because he is ten years old. He is so precious and the three pups are so cute together.

It is 4:00 and I am at school finishing the day. I have pictures on my camera but my camera is at home so I will have to post them later.

There is a good giveaway on Michelle's blog. It is stitchcraftplace.blogspot.com. Go check it out. Blogs are so much fun to read but it seems I never have the time to do all I care to accomplish. Oh well, such is life.

I'm working on three exchanges and some birthday gifts. It is fun to stitch for others.

We have a new addition to our family. His name is Buddy and he is 10 years old and very hard of hearing. He is a rescue dog from my friends no kill animal rescue in Collinsville, OK. No one will hardly adopt an old dog and he is just precious. He is a blond cocker just like our other two. He has a cherry eye that will be removed next week. But as a result of having it all this time he will always be plagued with dry eye so we will put drops in for him. He just sits so patiently and is a dear old soul.

The bathroom is completed and I love it. It is so beautiful and I know it was a labor of love from my DH. I truly appreciate his expertise.

Lost 1.4 lbs. this week and I am up to 9.8. It is getting there. Perseverance is the key and keep stitching in my hands and no food.

Thread Keep in The Mail

Here is my thread keep that I completed for my
Thread Holder Exchange. I put it together 2 times
and I think maybe my fabric should have been
a tighter weave. I want to do another one and
see if I have better luck stitching it. This pattern
is from the 2009 series of Floss Keeps from
The Needles Content.

My bathroom is 90% finished. I am so excited.
I took a shower in my newly tiled bathroom. The
potty is in and it works. The sink and faucet are in
and they work. My DH put in the ceiling fan and
the light fixtures. Tomorrow the mirror is hung and I need to buy a few things and we are all set.

School is still going great guns. Need to start planning for the Christmas programs and order some music. Starting the 3rd and 4th graders on their recorders. That is always a squeaky time for a while. But it doesn't take long and they do pretty well.

My Thread Holder Arrived

It always surprises me when I receive an exchange. I am always so busy trying to get mine done and in the mail that I forget I am going to receive one also. It is a Blackbird Design stitched on 28 ct fabric with GA Garden Gate thread. I just love it. I like Ellen's idea of putting it on a piece of wood. What a clever idea. It has given me some ideas that I will have to share with DH. He is the wood man in our house.

Our bathroom is almost complete. I can't wait until it is finished. I will take pictures. Now I need to make a new curtain for the window. I'm glad Labor Day is coming up as that will give me an extra day to sew.

My school year is going great and I have wonderful classes. I also have 39 children in my Honor Choir. That is a great improvement from the 11 that I started with 4 years ago.

It is late and I need to rest so until next time, have a great weekend.

Today was my first day back at school.

I was tired after teaching but then Ihad to do some grocery shopping and that helped and I'm not so weary. The kids were great

I thought I would put a cooler picture on my blog because at 3:00p.m. it was 102.

I made a little scissor fob that I had purchased from Traditional Stitches in their Stash Enhancement.

I am going to show my LK Exchange that was sent today and my Seasonal Exchange that was sent on the 28th.

I have been having trouble adding to my weight loss so I will tell you I have lost 5 lbs. total. That is a beginning. Wahoo!!!!!!

I start back to school on Tuesday with a meeting from 8:30 to 3:00. Oh dear!!!!!!! School officially starts with the children on the 16th of August. I'm ready to start back but I want to stay home a little bit more. We are remodeling our bathroom and there is more to do. I am so thankful for my dh. He has done it all. He has the tiling done. I'm not sure what will be done next but when it is completed I will post pictures of his labors.

I've made vegetable soup so it is time to eat.

Summer Round Exchange Received

I received my Summer Round Exchange piece from Lisa V. It is darling and it truly adds sunshine and joy to my entry way. It is from Shepherds Bush "Scatter Sunshine". It was a welcome surprise.

Now speaking of surprises, last week my friend Becky called me and coerced me into going to Weight Watchers with her which I needed to do. I had gained but I know why so that was ok. Now I'm back on track. She stitched a lovely green bird for me . It is hanging on my tree in the entry way. It is great to have friends that stitch.

I know it has been forever since I have written but I have an excuse and a good one at that. We took our 2 older granddaughters to New Mexico for a little trip. Then I spent a week with our grandchildren in Texas and got to play with the 3 year old twin boys. From two families I had the 5,6, and 7 year old granddaughters come home with me and they spent 6 days. Nana was tired when I took them home but we had a wonderful time. We went to the zoo, the aquarium, shopping, Build A Bear, shopping, shopping............. Need I say more? So I have had so much fun with all of them. Grandchildren are a blessing indeed.

I need to get busy and stitch. I have some exchanges to finish and get in the mail. Peace and blessing to all of you.

We Are Home

We just got back from a short trip to New Mexico. We took 2 of our granddaughters with us, Makenzie (almost 13) and Maddie (10). We went to our friends daughter's wedding in Albuquerque. We had a wonderful time and I don't think the girls got bored. We literally shopped until we dropped. We were able to go swimming in the hotels great pool.

When I returned home, there was a beautiful scissors keep in our mail from Melanie. The pictures do not do it justice. I love it and I truly appreciate all of the time and effort that went into its creation. Thank you Melanie.

I finished my pinkeep/scissor keeper last night at 1:00a,m, The pictures aren't the best because my eyes were shut. LOL I also did not plump out the heart and it is filled with crushed walnut shells. So the picture looks all uneven and it really isn't. Oh, well.

Our friend, Mary Ann, from Idabel was visiting this week and she brought me an early birthday present. Yippee!!!! This is Ethel......I love snowmen/snow ladies. She is just precious and she is autumnal, which is a word that our friend Becky heard on Martha Stewart a few years back. I love the sound of that word. See, it doesn't take much to entertain me.

Today was Fun Day and the kids had a blast and the weather was absolutely perfect. The Broken Arrow firemen came to the school and shot water into the air amide the squeals and screams of the children.

It Was Worth The Wait

Mare sent me the nicest LK exchange. It is mail art and a stitching case. It has a scissor holder, a place on each side to store floss and it has hand made pins, flowers, and floss. What a nice gift. Every day when I call my DH to say hi, I ask, "Has anything come for me that is stitching?" Today was an eureka day. I had a package from Mare. This is a hard week at school because the children are there physically but their minds are in Florida, etc. So this was such a special treat and I can't wait to share it with my fellow teachers. They will be wowed like me. Thank you so very much, Mare.

My Seasonal Exchange Arrived

I received my SE today from Lisa D. It is so sweet and I am going to display it on my Grandmother's treadle sewing machine. It is located in my entry way and it is a perfect place to display my stitching goodies that I receive from others. Some of my Easter items will stay until the middle of June. They are spring and our spring has sprung with lots of rain and tornadoes. Hopefully it will just settle on rain. It looks like we will have inside recess all next week.

Lisa stitched "Spring Basket" on 28 ct. Evenweave, natural color. I love the soft colors. When I am doing exchanges I am concentrating so hard on getting mine done and in the mail I forget that I am going to get one also. That is always a pleasant surprise.

My DH and I are cleaning the house this morning. It goes so much faster when we both tackle it but I had to stop and post my picture. The pups are helping. They go smell where we have swept. Perhaps we have taken one of their special fuzzies that float along the floor. Once again, thank you Lisa.

Happy Mother's Day

We had a houseful on Sunday and it was marvelous. I love cooking for my family and it brings memories of when the children were young. I cleaned with the great help from my DH and then we shopped that evening and I ranted and fumed because Wal-Mart was out of everything. I came home and cooked and we had eleven family members for lunch. We laughed, I played with the grandchildren, we planned for the summer, and I can tell my summer is not going to be long enough. There will not be any wasted days.

I have started on my scissors keeper which is due on June 1. I'm going to use the pattern Sweet Heart from Joyeux Noel. I love it and I think it would make a lovely scissor holder. Now get to work.

This is teacher appreciation week at our school and we get to wear jeans everyday except Friday which is Mass. We have 11 days left of school and the children are wound for sound. Good thing I teach music, we move, we sing, and we play instruments. Our activity today with the faculty and children was a great game of deck tennis. We had 5 rounds and I had to play 2 of them. We had great fun and the children beat us soundly. Oh well, there is next year.

Tried to watch Syriana this evening. TOO VIOLENT FOR ME. So I came in read blogs and decided to visit for a while. We had storms this evening and they were too close for comfort.

Here are pictures of my completed and sent LKE and my Seasonal Exchange. I enjoyed working on them. The little blue bird caught my eye and I loved it. I love the colors in the LK kit and I love the little scissors. I like miniature items like little screwdrivers, etc. It doesn't take much to please me.

We are headed on on short day trip and are taking the babies with us. They love to travel. They become nervous wrecks until we get them loaded.

Yippee! We have a winner for my Tax Day Drawing. We paid some and we got some back. The refund was bigger than the paying so it worked out just fine.

We have been busy at our house. My husband is putting up soffit around our home. While he was working last week he was cleaning out and pulled a big snake on top of his head. Fortunately he had a hat on but he was standing on a ladder. He doesn't know how he stayed on it during that exciting adventure. We are preparing to completely gut my bathroom and put in everything new. I picked out the tile and I have my sink that was hand painted with all kinds of flowers. When we are finished I will take pictures and share with you.

My spring musical was a huge success and I am glad it is over. Of course today we are already planning for next year. When you teach it never stops. I am thankful I have this opportunity to work with children. I truly enjoy it and feel like it is my ministry.

Another Week Almost Completed

I have been tired this week. The secret is go to bed at a decent hour and it would help. Oh well, I'm a little slow. I completed my LHN "Snowy Pines". I think I will make it into a little pillow with a hanger. Since I have a 4 day weekend I should be able to get it together. I've said that before and it is still on my to do list. What can I say but so much to do and so little time.

I have joined another exchange group. My friend Becky K in OK is not a good influence. She is always emailing me and saying check this exchange out. I take my stitching to work and I do it instead of eating and visiting. I get quite a bit done each day if I'm not having to help a student. Wish I could drive and stitch. Man that would be great.

Tax Day Give Away

As you have read I commute 2 hours each day to work so when I get home I have all of these wonderful plans but I make the mistake of sitting down in my recliner and that is all she wrote. So I do my majority of stitching on the weekends. I do not have to clean the house or do the laundry because my sweet retired husband does that for us. That saves me. Here is what I have done on my Little House Needleworks, "All Dolled Up". Not much, but it is a start.

I have been cleaning out my stash and I am going to have a drawing on April 15th. April 15th makes us cranky around here so I thought I would put some joy into it. Just post a comment on my blog. Please tell all your friends about it. I have 48 kits that include the pattern, fabric, threads, and needles.(In most of them) They are from the Silver Needle's Secret Needle Night, Stitchwork's Fabric and Stuff, and there are some from Designs from Margaret Lee. April Received Her Lizzie Kate Exchange

I was really worried that I was going to have to make another LKE ornament for April because it took 2 weeks for the package to arrive. I guess the heavy snows had something to do with it. I wanted to show the beaded hanger so I hooked it over one of the stands that my husband makes for me to display my goodies.

I am spending the day going through magazines and recycling them. AND I AM GETTING TO WORK ON MY LITTLE HOUSE NEEDLEWORK'S ORNAMENT THAT I RECEIVED ON THURSDAY!!!!!! Can you tell that I am excited? When I get home at night there is not much umph left in this old gal.

It has been so much fun to get to know other stitchers through my blog and the exchanges. This Internet is a wonderful tool.

It's happy because I have the day off from school and I woke up this morning and I didn't read my name in the obits. I have had a healthy breakfast of oatmeal topped with fresh blueberries and ground flax seed. I've had my vitamins with a half cup of orange juice and I'm getting ready to make some hot tea

My LKE partner has not received her exchange as of yet and it has been two weeks and she should have gotten it in 2 days. That disturbs me, so I think I will start on another one for her and if she does get the first one, I can save this for a gift. With my teaching schedule I don't want to be under pressure.

Life is grand! This morning I sat in my recliner, covered with a blankie and my two cocker spaniels. Life doesn't get much better than that. I'm going through my magazines and keeping the important stuff and will recycle the remainder at our school.

I have been remiss in not showing my gifts from my 2 stitching friends. Becky K. and I went to Idabel to visit our other stitching friend. She is closing her shop and that is sad for us but she is moving closer so we will get to see her more often. We enjoyed our drives down the Indian Nation Turnpike during all of the seasons of the year.

Received Round 3 LK

I received my cute LK February stamp from April. When she receives her round 3 LK, we will have a good laugh. She should have gotten it by now. I certainly hope it isn't lost. I did insure it so we will see.

This has been a long week at school but now it is Friday evening and I have to be back in Broken Arrow tomorrow by 7:30 a.m. It is our annual Circle The State With Song and I have 11 children that are participating in that event. For our school that is awesome. They will have a good day but will be tired pups by 3:00p.m. Then at 6:00p.m. I have a fund raiser at our school so it will be a long day and late evening. I will take stitching with me. I sit and listen to the children rehearse all day. Teachers must be there with their kids.

Where Does The Time Go?

I can't believe it has been over 2 months since I made a post but things happen in our lives that keep us occupied, like family and work. We had a crisis in our family and I have truly not been able to do much of anything.

I did finish my round 3 for our LK Exchange. The weather saved me. We had 5 inches of snow and 3/4 inch of ice under that so my school was cancelled on Friday and I stitched up a storm. As soon as my partner gets her package I will post a picture.

Here is a picture of the snow out our backyard. Our 2 cockers enjoyed bounding through and dragging in snow on their fur.

Fabulous Weekend

Saturday my good friend and I went to Tulsa to visit the stitching shops, eat, and is there anything else? The trees were pretty and the weather was perfect.

I also mailed my Round 2 for LK. My partner should get it about Thursday.

They say no rain for the next 7 days. October only had 11 days without rain. It has been a soggy month.

I just finished my LK Halloween Samplings for my daughter in law that just moved and is having to make some adjustments. She does cross stitch and I wasn't sure she wanted me to do some for her. She asked me the other day if I would make her some and I said sure. (That pleases a mother in law.)

I think I will make it into a pin keep or a little pillow. Finishing is always the hardest for me. I can do it just fine but it is getting started. My helper is on her fall foliage trip and I need her here. LOL

This has been a crazy week and tomorrow is Friday. I'm ready. With rain always peeking through the clouds the children have been wild. Then it would rain and they had to stay in during recess. Sent My SBBC Exchange Today

I sent my SBBC Exchange today and it should reach it home in about 4 days. It is so excited about going such a long way.

School has started and I am going crazy. I have another class to teach so my days are full. The children are wonderful and are really doing an excellent job. I love what I do. We have a new building and we will be moving the middle of September. I'm already getting tired.

Our weather has been marvelous. I truly enjoy going on my walks now. I sweat but it is a cool sweat.

Here is a picture of my LIK Exchange. At first I thought I had bit off more than I could chew, time wise but it went very quickly and I really enjoyed doing it for Pjiro. Now to do the finishing work on my SBBC Exchange. It shouldn't take me too long.

School begins for me this week and I can't tell you where the time went. I spent a few days with our grandchildren in Texas and then Gary and I went back down and helped our son and his family with their move to Paducah, TX.

I mailed my Lizzie Kate Exchange today and the Postmaster told me it would only take 4 days. I am so excited. I hope it likes its new home.

Today I spent the day with two of my dearest friends. We shopped, visited, and ate together. It is always a treat to spend time with good friends.

I am going to Denton, TX tomorrow afternoon and help our son take two of our granddaughters to Six Flags. We had to cancel once because of bad weather. We are planning on being there when they open and being there when they close. I hope this Nana has not bit off more than she can chew. It has been 21 years since my last visit to Six Flags. I'll share when I get back.

I went to Las Vegas to meet my brother whom I had not seen in about 8 years. We had a wonderful time and the casinos did not earn a dime from us. We were to busy visiting and walking. We walked 9 miles. He is 74 and I am 64; not too bad for old timers.

I received my SBBC exchange on June 17th. But when I tried to publish my blog I could not get the picture to come up and by the way of Becky K of OK we decided that the plug in was loose. (I'm sure there is a correct computer term but you have to remember that I am a music teacher.) I ran out of time so after a trip to Wisconsin I am finally able to download my picture and post that I received my birthday exchange. I love it and I have hung it in a perfect place in my living room. I appreciate the time and effort it took to make my little bag. Here is a picture of my finished Trilogy Tin. It was really fun to do. I think I will finish it, as suggested by my friend Becky K of OK, to mount it on top of my little tin and make a needle case.

I have entered in Edgar's blogaversary drawing. I hope I win. I finished a project this weekend. It is "Peace in all things" by Trilogy in the little thin tins. It really turned out very well. Of course I am at school and the project and camera are at home. I will try to add a snap this evening.
I am continuing on my WIP by Becky Boo's. It is the Halloween picture with all of the buttons which I just adore.

Becky K of OK and I went to Idabel to visit our friend, Mary Ann, that has the delightful shop called Mimi's. We had a relaxing weekend and lots of laughs. We drove down in torrential rain or as is called in Oklahoma a "toad strangler" rain.

It rained while I drove home yesterday from school. It rained on me this morning while I did duty and it is supposed to rain this evening while I go home from school. Our lakes, rivers, streams, and ponds are overflowing.

Started Another One

I have started another pink baby blanket. I have 8 inches done. That is pretty good for me. This is a picture of our granddaughter, Miss Makenzie. She is holding our 2 babies.I thought i would share my Easter/Spring display on my grandmother's treadle sewing machine cabinet. The scarf was made by her many years ago. You can't see the tiny stitches on the egg I cross stitched. The little Easter pillow and Easter card was stitched by my friend Becky. It is cool and cloudy and I finished doing our taxes today! Well I will be honest I just collected all of the receipts and added them together to take to our tax lady. Go Cowpokes, let's hear "Pistols Firing" tomorrow during the game. I want to wish all of you a Happy St. Patty's Day. My husband and I went to the cafeteria and had our annual Corned Beef and Cabbage. It was very good. But it will last me for another year.

I finished my baby blanket that I have been working on forever. Now I have started on another one for one of my coworkers at school. We are headed to Texas tomorrow so the needles will fly while I listen to my book on tape.

My friend and I met at our local ice cream shop and had fresh coffee and a dip of that good cool stuff. It was 84 today so that is the right weather for ice cream.

We took the babies to the groomer today and they are going to spend a couple of nights with their Grandma Lynn. They love her and she loves them. It gives me comfort to know they are well taken care of and they get to run around instead of being in a crate all day and night.

Greetings and Salutations to all: As you can see I have not added anything since November. I am a music teacher and from November through Christmas I have no time except to teach and hope all works out well.

I have been knitting a wee baby blanket for a friend but that is all. I have taken a few stitches but none to show.

I commute 2 hours each day, I drive to Oklahoma Baptist University on Monday after school which is an hour and a half commute. I teach piano on Tuesday after school. I visit with my friend Susan, from the 4th grade on Wednesdays and get my hair done. I go to Weight Watchers on Thursday, and on Fridays, I die. My weekends are full.

So it is with great anticipation that I am looking forward to Spring Break.

I am walking at least 30 minutes each day and by the end of the day there is not much left. I am trying my best to go to bed by 8:30 because I get up at 4:45.

I gave up diet coke for Lent and I should have added I will stitch 15 minutes each day. It isn't too late I will try that.

Our Bradford pear trees, wild plums, etc. have burst into bloom and the red birds sing gratefully every morning as I prepare to go to work. I pray that everyone has a wonderful week filled with happiness and joy.

I am stitching on Becky Boo's Halloween Chart. Yes, I know, Halloween is past but I want to get it finished. I never thought I would finish the purple on the witch. Now I am working on her hair. I think I will make a pillow. I have some new Halloweeny fabric that I am just itching to use.

I am really enjoying blogging and I hope to have more pictures very very soon. My sweet husband has been doing a lot of the driving when we go on the road so I can stitch. I commute 2 hours each day and I if I could only put the car on auto pilot, I would have it made in the shade. I have a little light that I wear on my head and it shines down on my work. That helps with the time change.

I want to start on some Christmas ornaments so after school today I must get my things together and get started. Enjoy your day and fill your mind with good thoughts. Peace and Love!

What Shall I Choose?

I have finished stitching 2 little pieces but now what to make with them. Deciding is delicious. It is fun to look at my tutorials that I have saved or look at pieces I have already made and try to decide what to do.

My computer died over the weekend so it is in the repair shop and I felt the same as when our electricity went out during our ice storm last year. Oh my gosh, what am I going to do!!!!

We took a little drive on Friday to look at the changing colors in AR. The weather was beautiful and the trees had all shades of oranges. The week before we were in CO looking at the gorgeous aspens waving and shimmering in the breezes. We also had some wonderful Mexican food.

Hope your week is going well. I am now working on the Halloween stitching by Becky Boo's. It will be so cute. My buttons came in so I have to finish it.

My first pin keep

I have been able to stitch a little every day and that is so exciting. I will try to get some pictures posted showing my progress.

I went to orchestra rehearsal last night and I absolutely love rehearsing. The time flies by and I think of nothing but the music. I come away refreshed and ready to tackle the week.

School is going so well this year. This is my 3rd year at All Saints and the children know me and I know them. There is trust now and that makes a world of difference.

I signed up for Edgar's birthday blog and had to send him 3 emails. I told him I wasn't an idiot. I was in the room with 23 4th graders. This is my first club and I am excited. I already have things in mind to send with my stitching project.

Tonight is Weight Watchers and I pray I have had a good week. Have a wonderful day and a great weekend.

Getting started

This is pretty new to me so please be patient. I'm charging my camera's batteries so I will add pictures soon.

I spent the weekend in Idabel with two of my special friends. We stitched, drank coffee, and laughed a lot. That rejuvenates me for the next week.
